RENAISSANCE MARBLE CHALICE WITH RELIEF DECORATION
A delightful, 17th century marble chalice or cup. Hailing from the Renaissance period, the lower body of the bowl with imbricated leaves, above is encircled by a broad relief frieze of scrolling foliage and flowers. the rim is formed by a garland band set between two mouldings, the bowl stands on a spreading foot with egg-and-dart band, set on a square marble base. In very good condition, restoration to the narrow part of the socle.
