Late Regency Painted Iron Garden Bench
An English, late Regency period, iron garden bench, perfectly showing the movement from Regency to Victorian in design and construction. Typically Regency in its form, with upright, arcaded back and standing on straight legs with pad feet, instead of being made in reeded iron, this has been constructed in rounded top iron, the seat rails are mounted on the top of the side rails, rather than the earlier method of letting them into the top edge of the side rails and the feet are plain, not lions paw, the whole bench is in good condition and retains many layers of ancient paint.
