Pair Of J M Blashfield Terracotta Garden Urns
A fine and rare pair of mid 19th century, buff terracotta garden urns by J M Blashfield. Of Campana form, with bold egg and dart rim, the handles are of a bearded man with shell hat. In good condition, some nibbles to the extremities, a couple of old repairs to the shell handles.

John Marriott Blashfield produced terracotta sculpture, ornament and architectural items from the early part of the 1840's Starting production at Millwall, London and then in 1858 he moved to Stamford in Lincolnshire, production finishing in 1875.
Publishing a number of catalogues, including 'A Catalogue of Seven Hundred Articles, Made in Terra Cotta, and Red and Cane-Coloured Pottery' Blashfield wares are fine, crisply cast, with great attention to detail, reminiscent of the Coade factory wares.
