Early 17th Century Carved Bath Stone Garden Urn ( sold )
A rare, early 17th century carved Bath stone garden urn. The lobed campagna shaped bowl, with fret like handles and scroll detail, sitting on a simple socle. Of good size, beautifully weathered with lichen an old repair to the rim.
This urn dates to the first half on the 17th century, in the period where architecture was in transition from Gothic to the Renaissance, very much in the fashion of Hardwick Hall and Burghley House.
