18th Century George II Lead Water Cistern
A wonderful, mid 18th century, George II period lead cistern. Rectangular in shape, the front is panelled with strapwork, the panels centred with winged griffin, initialed " S C M' and scallop shell decoration, dated 1751.
Generally in good condition, with signs of old plumbing, as all these have.
This cistern is unusual, although it is large in scale, it is narrow in depth and would work wonderfully as a planter in a garden room or courtyard garden where space is of a premium.
