A wonderful, late 18th century armchair in the manner of John Linnell. Retaining traces of its original paint, with classical figure oval detail, serpentine seat and the most wonderful and bold down swept arms, on spade feet.
John Linnell was one of the most prominent cabinet makers in England of the 18th century, the firm, based in Berkeley Square London.
This chair shows an exaggerated form of Linnell's down swept arm design, it also has clamp marks under the seat, made to help in the construction, a distinctive feature of 18th century English chair making.
